Caspian and Misc.

I spent some time blog hopping today to see what people were posting about. If you want to visit any of these blogs, just click their name on the previous comments section and it will take you to their profile. You can go to their blogs from there. I'm not going to put links because if there is some weird person reading this, I don't want to make it too easy for them to find the blogs.

If you're not on this list, you probably haven't left a comment on my last couple of posts.

Chad has a quiz about what carnival ride you are. Mine came out Haunted House and says I have dark tendencies. Hmmm.
Silverwolf has pictures from a police memorial he was at.
Dragonrider has her dance photo up--really nice.
Lizzie talks about everyone having a gift (talent) from God.
Big Sis Diaries is searching for a college.
Ellie is off to China this summer. Hope the earthquake didn't change those plans. That was really awful. She also asked for prayer for a little Ethiopian girl. You can read about it on her blog. It's not my story to tell.
Nikki has a lot of cool photos of mothers around the world on her Mother's Day post.
Roheryn has a word count up of a book she is writing. She is over 29,000 words!
Ian is definitely looking forward to summer vacation from school! We never did get to see hockey pictures.
Zuzu started her day off with a splash--literally.
Mellimaus has nice scenery pictures from a horse ride in the woods.
Hannah went to see Caspian and posted her opinions of it. Check her blog for that.
Aelic also went to see Caspian and had a totally different opinion. Funny. We could all watch the same movie and I bet we'd all have different thoughts about it.

That being said, what do you think about a movie staying true to the book? When is it okay to change things, when isn't it? I know two movies-- Bridge to T. and The Seeker: The Dark is Rising both changed the time frame for the movie. They had cell phones and ipods and stuff when the books were set long before those came around.

Caspian added a lot of stuff to make it more sensational--like the scene with the white witch behind the ice wall for instance--that weren't in the book. And in the book they started to see Aslan as they were walking along the river--all except that little guy. He couldn't see him because he didn't believe in him. In the movie he sees him face to face at the end and Lucy asks, "Can you see him now?" which doesn't make sense because no one had seen him earlier.

So what did you think about Caspian? If you didn't see it, what movies have you seen that stay true to the books or totally change things from the book?

Hockey pictures? Sorry, I don't even have any. :( I could try to give you play by plays, though! :)

Eragon has got to be the worst book based movie ever. I was astounded at the final battle, how Eragon fought Durza the WHOLE TIME, when in the book they only fought at the end of the battle. They are going to have lots of trouble making a movie for Eldest.

I want to see Prince Caspian. I can understand changing things, because they don't want it to be EXACTLY the same as the book, as long as they keep the general plot and basis behind everything. I guess that they need to add some other things, too, to make it more surprising, such as this romance between Susan and Caspian I have heard about...

Well you know my opinion :). I haven't read the book Prince Caspian in a loonngg time. The movie inspired me to read it. Yay I'm on the list! Ha ha I love ZuZus her day started with a big splash. I'm racking my brain for movies that the original idea came from a book. City of Ember is coming out. Definitely read the book! The movie will make you want to read the book but the movie will spoil it. Sorry I can't think of any movies based on books! I'm sort of just rambling ;).

I just got back from seeing TCoN:PC
and I really liked the way they did it. Despite not being in the book, the scene with the White Witch was amazingly done. And actually, to be technical, they just used their artistic license to add drama to a scene that was in the book. The romance wasn't played up nearly as much as the fans got hyped up 'bout it. And they did a great job foreshadowning that Susan won't be returning to Narnia the final time with the rest of them...

I like your new look! I really want to see Prince Caspian!

I think most movies stray from the book somewhat. I read "The Count of Monte Cristo" for school and when I watched the movie it was a completely different plot. I normally think the book is better, but sometimes I think the movie is better.
